Duke Consulting, Inc.

Check out the all new Parameter Navigator (PNav). This will allow you to quickly clean up and standardize your DataStage job parameters. Very fast and easy to use.

Duke Consulting, Inc. has concentrated on data warehouse development for many years. Most of our work has included DataStage. DataStage is a registered trademark of Ascential Software. Duke is committed to making tools to help develop faster and better with DataStage. These tools help navigate the complex business rules of ETL development. Most DataStage shops run 24 hours a day 7 days a week so secure remote access is another need addressed by DsWebMon. Documentation is always a tedious task that is ignored or an after thought. DwNav tries to automate some documentation directly from the job designs.

My name is Kim Duke. Most of these tools were written and designed by me to make my job easier as a DataStage consultant. If nobody but me uses these tools then it was still worth it. I always had little tips and tricks which helped me jump start a DataStage project. I just took some time off to see if I could wrap these up into a nice little products. More than anything else they expose some of my techniques to speed up development with DataStage and organize the work after the fact. These tools are worth a lot more than what I charge for them. The first 30 days are free. So try them out. If you like them then buy them. I think these tools are fun and help simplify a very complex process of ETL.

At some point ETL and data warehouse development will be an audited process. When it is, then you will be required to develop better documentation and more formal processes for version control and implementation. DwNav can document all you jobs, row counts and many complex ETL process. I plan on expanding the metadata capabilities of DwNav to be used in ETL source queries. I plan on using this site a place to learn new DataStage techniques as well as a place to download some of my examples. Knowledge is important but wisdom is key to success. Wisdom is the proper use or implementation of knowledge. Hopefully my tools and web site will promote wise use of tools and techniques to build better data warehouses. After all if the quality of our work does not improve then what is the point.
