DwNav - Display DataStage Job Info

After you have updated doc_tool.mdb by running DataStage Reporting Assistant. The first level of DwNav is the project name.

DwNav allows you to trace data flow from job to job.

Drill down into jobs by stage types, file names, link names, column names and then trace derivations back to their source.

Display constraints by right clicking on the link name and choose the "Constraints" menu option. Notice that DwNav displays "Job: HshLuBuyStrategy" to show what job wrote the data to the hash file "DM_LU_BUY_STRATEGY".

Drill Down:

Project -> Job -> Stage Type -> Filename -> Link Name -> Column Name -> Derivation

Browse job parameters.

Once you have installed the server portion of DwNav then you can collect and download job history.

Downloads:

  1. Job History

  2. Row History

  3. Parameter History

  4. Job Sequences

Job history can be used to target the longest running jobs for performance tuning.

Rows per second should also be an indicator for performance issues. Row history changes over time and it is important to know when the slow downs occurred.
